Playing the piano brings me a lot of joy, and my main goal as a teacher is to share that happiness with everyone who wants to experience it. The feeling of playing the piano, with all its emotional depth, is something I want to pass on to my students. One of the most important things in learning an instrument is building a lasting connection with it. I believe this connection is more important than just mastering techniques. When a student develops a relationship with their instrument, and if they practice regularly with a clear plan, they will naturally progress and learn the necessary skills and techniques. My teaching method is tailored to each student. I don’t use the same syllabus for everyone. instead, I take into account each student’s personal preferences and musical tastes. By considering their favorite pieces, I create a learning plan that combines the essential technical skills with music they enjoy. This way, they stay motivated and engaged while learning the basics in a way that works for them. I use a variety of methods and books in my teaching. I combine traditional, older technical books with newer methods for technique and performance. This blend of approaches helps to cover both the fundamentals and more modern techniques, ensuring a well-rounded musical education.

Name: Melika (Full name will be provided upon registration)

Age: 30's

Gender: female

I started learning the piano at the age of seven with various teachers. At the age of ten, I began studying solfeggio with Professor Yaghoub Sahaf, who is considered one of the best music educators in Iran. He is a musical genius and a blind musician, who also served as a member of the music association’s management committee in our province. I continued my piano and harmony studies with him for several years. Following his recommendation, I started teaching music at the age of 20 and have continued ever since. I obtained the Teaching Qualification Certificate from the Ministry of Music in my country. I have 12 years of teaching experience. For about 7–8 years, I taught at prestigious music academies in my city. I later opened my own private music studio, where I have been offering both in-person and online lessons independently. In addition to piano performance and teaching, I have been actively involved in choral singing. For the past five years, I have been a member of a choral music group, performing in several concerts. My experience in choral singing has enriched my musical understanding, enhanced my sense of harmony, and allowed me to work closely with other talented musicians.

I have won first place in several regional piano competitions. I have had the experience of performing as a soloist in multiple recitals and music festivals. I also collaborated as a pianist in the Sokoot Music Orchestra, working with distinguished musicians in an orchestral setting. I participated as a singer in Bellini’s La Sonnambula and in the Requiem by Mozart. I have accompanied numerous performances and worked with several singers.

I have extensive training in piano performance, music theory, solfeggio, and harmony, which I incorporate into my lessons to help students develop a deeper understanding of music. I have broad experience in ensemble performance, having played in musical groups and an orchestra. As an accompanist, I have collaborated with multiple singers. Additionally, I have been a choir member for several years and have performed solo vocal pieces in selected works. Performing in different ensembles has helped me grow both as a soloist and as an ensemble musician. It has enhanced my sense of timing, harmony, musical coordination, and allowing me to adapt easily to different performance settings.

Rates and Studio Policies
Registration Fee: $25.00 (One-time lifetime registration fee may be used by all family members)

Rates for instruction:
30 minute private lesson: $39.00
45 minute private lesson: $49.00
60 minute private lesson: $59.00

Travel charge: additional $15.00 per visit (for lessons in a client's home as opposed to my studio)

1. Cancellation Policy
Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.

2. Cessation (quitting) Policy
A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.

3. Illness Policy
Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.

BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.

No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.

4. Rescheduling Policy
Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy

Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.

It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.

5. Evaluation Period
There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).

Online lessons

Melika can provide online instruction. While other platforms are possible BAH strongly recommends the use of the Zoom video conferencing platform as it is optimized for music lessons and audio quality.
