I wholeheartedly believe that music is as individual as the person who plays it. As someone fond of stories, I often compare music to the sound-based equivalent of a book. As such, I always take care to structure lessons in accordance with a student's goals and desires. I strive to foster a creative environment in which a student feels at liberty to improvise. I also often describe playing an instrument to playing a sport. Not only in the sense of needing adequate physical preparation, but also in needing raw practice. Above all, I aim to inspire a love for practice in my students, to allow them to become independent and self-sufficient in their playing. The art of practicing is not only applicable to a student's instrument, but to every aspect of their lives.
I've been playing piano and violin since I was about 12, and I'm currently studying piano and composition at MacEwan University. My musical upbringing was classical, though in university I've since branched out to jazz and contemporary genres. I've studied RCM, played in the Edmonton Youth Orchestra, and played in a few bands. I was immensely fortunate to have private teachers as I was studying my instruments, and I can fondly say that I still carry all of their lessons with me.
I was placed on the Dean's List as a Bachelor of Music student after recently completing my first year at MacEwan University's music program.
During my time studying music, I've taken part in festivals, recitals, orchestras, bands, and music exams. Due to this, I understand the multitude of opportunities and goals a young musician may have. I'm especially well-versed in the RCM exams, having pursued training in RCM violin, piano, theory, and history. And while I have spent three years teaching music, I also have experience as a tutor for school subjects; this has greatly helped my teaching ability, and has exposed me to a large variety of different learning styles.

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
