The Beauty of Music and My Teaching Approach Music is a universal language that can be both the air we breathe and the force that takes our breath away. Growing up in a classical music environment has given me a deep appreciation for its timeless beauty, but I’m far from rigid when it comes to styles. In fact, I encourage my students to explore and play music they love, especially as their tastes evolve with age and experience. While I believe in the value of classical pieces and exercises—especially for those pursuing violin seriously—I always adapt my teaching to meet the needs and preferences of my students. Whether you’re just starting out, pursuing classical mastery, or exploring other genres, my broad background allows me to guide you at any level. Having lived and studied abroad, I’ve gained diverse experiences that enrich my teaching. So, if you're looking for a personalized, adaptable, and enriching violin learning experience, I’m here to help you grow in your musical journey.
Name: Maja (Full name will be provided upon registration)
Age: 19
Gender: female
I began my musical journey at the age of 7, and by 13, I was accepted into a prestigious boarding school modelled after the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music. This institution, one of only three of its kind worldwide, provided me with six years of intensive training, where I had the privilege of working with renowned professional musicians and university professors across Europe. Throughout my career, I have performed with esteemed orchestras such as the Belgrade Philharmonic and the Slovenian Philharmonic, as well as with smaller ensembles throughout Austria’s major cities. With over 10 years of violin performance experience, 5 years of touring with professional orchestras, and 4 years of competition experience with my chamber ensemble, I bring a wealth of expertise to my teaching. My education is equivalent to a Bachelor’s (and in some cases, a Master’s) degree in Violin Performance and Music Theory, as recognized by American institutions. I am well-versed in areas such as Counterpoint, Music Theory, Piano, Composition, and Solfeggio, and I am familiar with the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) curriculum, holding an ARCT level in performance. I aim to inspire and nurture my students by offering them the tools and knowledge they need to excel in their musical journey, whether they are pursuing violin as a passion or a profession.
- Numerous orchestra nominations and awards for the youth orchestras I participated with at a young age - Kiwanis Violin Concerto competition first place with the highest score in years - Competed at and won: AYSO Orchestra (SCL Festival) (Italy), Ohrid Pearls (Macedonia), International Belgrade Chamber Competition (1st and 2nd Places in different categories)
My Musical Journey and Philosophy Music has always been the core of my life, the language that truly spoke to my soul. From a young age, I was constantly immersed in sound—my headphones were on nearly every waking moment. I explored countless genres, from Rock, Pop, and Metal to Opera, Instrumental Classical, Jazz, Blues, Indie, and Alternative—anything that resonated with me. Music runs deep in my family. My grandmother was a celebrated singer in her hometown, and both of my grandfathers were bassists. There are many musicians in my family tree, and my passion for music was evident from a very early age. My grandmother still tells the story of when I was just a toddler, standing on shaky legs, rocking my head in rhythm to the hum of a coffee grinder. That moment led her to declare, “She’s a musician at heart!”—a sentiment my parents took seriously when they enrolled me in piano lessons. However, it was a violin concerto at the KW Symphony that truly changed my life. Just days later, a teenage violinist performed at my school, and I knew instantly that the violin was my calling. My parents were surprised when I rejected piano lessons in favor of the violin, but they embraced my passion, signing me up for lessons the very next day. And that was the beginning of my lifelong journey with the violin. These early experiences shaped my deep connection to music, not just as a performer but as an educator. Having trained at a prestigious music boarding school and performed with professional orchestras across Europe, I bring both formal education and personal passion to my teaching. I believe that every student has a unique musical voice, and my goal is to help them discover it, whether through classical training or exploring the genres that speak to them.

Rates and Studio Policies
Registration Fee: $25.00 (One-time lifetime registration fee may be used by all family members)
Rates for instruction:
30 minute private lesson: $39.00
45 minute private lesson: $49.00
60 minute private lesson: $59.00
Travel charge: additional $15.00 per visit (for lessons in a client's home as opposed to my studio)
1. Cancellation Policy
Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.
2. Cessation (quitting) Policy
A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.
3. Illness Policy
Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.
BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.
No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.
4. Rescheduling Policy
Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.
Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy
Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.
It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.
5. Evaluation Period
There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).
