Teaching Philosophy

Music is a vessel in which we are able to express our own experiences by intertwining them with the story it is already telling, and I believe that this is the most essential part of being an active, communicating musician. As a teacher, I desire kindness above all, and will actively engage with my students in a respectful and empathetic way. I believe in constructive criticism alongside positive affirmation, not one or the other. I will leave space for healing, hope, and my student’s personal experiences and musical interpretations. I will strive to not make assumptions about my students, their voices, or their experience. I refuse to belittle one’s intelligence, but instead, foster an environment for growth and learning. My goal is to help guide my students to become honest musicians who care deeply about beautiful storytelling, personal growth, and self confidence.

Musical Education

I have a BM in Vocal Performance from The Lawrence University Conservatory of Music. I studied voice privately from the age of 16 and was apart of my high school choir and theater program from age 14. I have studied under two time Grammy winner, Soprano, Estelí Gomez for four years and had training in early music and chamber ensemble music. I performed in several operas and scenes productions and put on two solo voice recitals. I am now studying at McGill for my Masters in Opera.

Special Skills and Trainings

I knew from a young age that performance was something that excited me, but I didn't realize how cool it would be to also work behind the scenes. I have been an Assistant Stage manager for several shows at my university, and I have fallen in love with working backstage. It helps me gain perspective as a performer- every job in theater is just as important as singing.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
