In my own development as a musician, I have been deeply impacted by empathetic, passionate and dedicated teachers who shared their knowledge and experience with me in a way that allowed me to create my own musical meaning. Music education is a collaborative partnership between student and teacher to help the student develop the skills to achieve their goals. I believe that my role as a teacher is to facilitate a positive learning experience through a student-centered approach that gives them the freedom and empowerment to express themselves musically. As a musician, I have learned and performed many different styles of music, which has strengthened my skills, knowledge and appreciation for music as a whole. I believe in the importance of expanding our musical horizons through exploring a variety of musical genres, and as a result I am open to supporting the acquisition of skills in all musical styles equally.
I have a Bachelor of Music with Honors Education from the University of Western Ontario, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Windsor. I have been studying clarinet for over 15 years and have experience playing and performing in a variety of styles, including classical, jazz and klezmer. I have experience teaching from ages 4 to 40, and have a love for music theory and history as well.

I am proficient in many different instruments, including clarinet, saxophone, piano, guitar and bass guitar. I also have experience in composition and proficiency in audio recording. I have led musical ensembles, both leading rock and pop ensembles, and in conducting choirs and concert bands. The variety of these experiences has made me adaptable to both formal and informal musical settings. This informs my approach as a music teacher.

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
