Music has always been a guiding light in my life, offering both solace during challenging times and joy in moments of celebration. My journey as a singer has not been without its obstacles; I have personally struggled with vocal tension and anxiety, which at times led me to be overly critical of my own voice. These challenges, however, have shaped me into the teacher I am today. With the guidance of my own teachers, I developed techniques that transformed my voice, such as cultivating a deep connection to the core, maintaining a relaxed larynx, and ensuring a released jaw to name a few. These techniques, honed through mentorship and practice, not only enhanced my own singing but have proven invaluable in my teaching practice, benefiting each of my students. I believe that beautiful singing stems from joy, passion, and spirit, but it is the mastery of technique that amplifies that beauty and equips singers to overcome any vocal challenges they may encounter. My goal as your singing teacher is to make singing both enjoyable and effortless. I incorporate physical warm-ups alongside vocal exercises to help students unlock their full potential and approach singing with confidence and ease.
Name: Laura (Full name will be provided upon registration)
Age: 23
Gender: female
I hold a Bachelor of Music with Honours in Voice Performance from Western University, where I gained extensive experience in performance, advanced music theory, harmony, analysis, music history, and vocal pedagogy. My education also included advanced skills in dictation, sight-singing, and keyboard harmony. Over the past nine years, I have received private voice training from several esteemed teachers, focusing on a diverse range of styles including opera, classical, musical theatre, jazz, R&B, and pop. My passion for these genres has greatly enriched my teaching approach. Currently, I am pursuing a Master of Music in Performance and Literature, specializing in voice. This advanced study deepens my expertise and enhances my ability to guide students in their musical journey. I have also had the privilege of performing in numerous operas, both locally and internationally. My performances include roles in Suor Angelica by Puccini and Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart, showcasing my versatility and commitment to the art of opera. In addition to my operatic experience, I have extensive choral experience, having performed with multiple choirs for nearly a decade. Notably, I served as a professional section lead for St. Timothy’s Anglican Church Choir, and my performances include three years at Massey Hall. I have also completed my Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Level 10 diploma, which reflects my commitment to high standards of musicianship and education.
Over the past two summers, I have had the privilege of training in Italy with La Musica Lirica, where I performed in multiple operas, including understudying for Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and singing Suor Osmina in Puccini’s Suor Angelica. These experiences allowed me to collaborate with an international cast of both amateur and professional singers, enriching my understanding of diverse vocal styles and techniques. Through these experiences, I have built a strong international network of singers, collaborative pianists, and educators. This network continues to be a valuable resource for me, providing ongoing inspiration and knowledge. I am dedicated to my craft and continuously seek to expand my expertise. I regularly research, read, and implement new techniques into my practice. My studies in the physiology of singing have been particularly influential, as I use this scientific foundation to inform my teaching and help my students achieve their fullest vocal potential.

Rates and Studio Policies
Registration Fee: $25.00 (One-time lifetime registration fee may be used by all family members)
Rates for instruction:
30 minute private lesson: $39.00
45 minute private lesson: $49.00
60 minute private lesson: $59.00
Travel charge: additional $15.00 per visit (for lessons in a client's home as opposed to my studio)
1. Cancellation Policy
Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.
2. Cessation (quitting) Policy
A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.
3. Illness Policy
Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.
BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.
No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.
4. Rescheduling Policy
Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.
Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy
Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.
It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.
5. Evaluation Period
There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).
