About Kathleen
Kathleen is a fourth-year voice major at Memorial University of Newfoundland with RCM credentials in piano (Level 4), voice (Level 7), and music theory (Level 8). She believes singing should be enjoyable while maintaining healthy vocal habits. With experience in opera, musical theatre, and as a playwright and composer, Kathleen brings creative inspiration to lessons. She teaches voice in Gander and online.

Teaching Philosophy
My belief is that singing is supposed to be fun; the minute it feels like work is when one needs to evaluate how much they truly want to be a musician. However, singing cannot be fun without healthy habits to keep your voice in shape. Dedication is important, but dedication should not relate back to obligation, nor should it get in the way of prioritising ones health and wellness. All this to say, taking care of your voice is my top priority, along with making sure your repertoire is what you enjoy.
Musical Education
I've completed level 4 RCM piano, 7 RCM voice and 8 RCM for music theory. I'm a fourth year voice major at Memorial University of Newfoundland. I also have a history of acting performance in both operas and musical productions. I study under Dr. Jane Leibel and have also worked under such talented professors as Dr. Caroline Schiller and Shelley Neville.

Special Skills and Trainings
Beyond singing, theory and piano, I have experience as a playwright and composer. I have a deep love for broadway and opera so when I was given the opportunity to start creating my own shows, I took it up immediately. I believe inspiration is everywhere; sometimes it just takes the right person to help that stick.

Associate Teacher Lesson Rates:
Kathleen is a Beethoven at Home Associate Teacher
- 30 minutes: $39
- 45 minutes: $49
- 60 minutes: $59
Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
