About Evelyn
Evelyn is a Canadian soprano and voice teacher with a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Western University and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Alberta. She believes everyone can learn to sing and creates a supportive, joyful environment where students build vocal technique and confidence. Lessons are tailored to individual goals, whether for performance preparation, foundational training, or singing for joy. Evelyn is an active performer and member of NATS, ARMTA, and The Voice Foundation. She offers lessons from her Edmonton studio and online.

Teaching Philosophy
Hi! I’m Evelyn, a Canadian soprano and voice teacher who loves helping singers discover their voice and build confidence in their singing. I believe that everyone can learn to sing and that the most meaningful growth happens in an environment rooted in safety, trust, and play. Singing can feel vulnerable, and my priority is to ensure that every student feels supported and free to explore their voice without fear of judgment. Lessons are designed to be both structured and joyful, balancing strong vocal technique with a spirit of curiosity. You can expect to work on vocal development and expressive communication, while also leaving room for experimentation and creativity. Making mistakes and (many!) silly sounds along the way are all essential parts of the learning process! Since every student brings their own unique goals, learning style, and musical interests to the studio, lessons are thoughtfully tailored to reflect what you want to achieve. Whether you’re preparing for a performance, desire to build a strong vocal foundation, or simply singing for the joy of it, you’ll be supported every step of the way. Above all, my hope is that you leave each lesson feeling refreshed and inspired to keep making music!
Musical Education
I hold a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Western University’s Don Wright Faculty of Music, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Alberta, a Performer Certificate from the Franz Schubert Institut, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Concordia University of Edmonton. I am a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), the Alberta Registered Music Teachers' Association (ARMTA), and The Voice Foundation (TVF). In addition to teaching I am an active performer, including credits with local organizations such as NUOVA Vocal Arts, Pop Goes the Opera, and the Ensemble for Lyrical Operetta Productions Edmonton. I’ve also appeared as a soprano soloist in multiple performances of Handel's Messiah, including as an emerging artist with the Juno Award–winning ensemble Rosa Barocca and Early Music Voices. Recent credits include Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus, Johanna in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Mrs. Nordstrom in A Little Night Music, and Suzanne in Un Mari à la Porte.

Teacher Lesson Rates:
Evelyn is a Beethoven at Home Teacher
- 30 minutes: $39
- 45 minutes: $49
- 60 minutes: $59
Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Our Promise to You
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
