My teaching approach revolves around catering to your specific interests, expectations, and skill level, creating a fun and relaxed atmosphere for learning. We can focus solely on the technical aspects of playing your instrument or delve into other exciting subjects such as music reading, modern harmony, improvisation, arrangement, composition, and exploring various genres like rock, blues, pop, jazz, world, folk, reggae, fusion, and more. Singers and instrumentalists alike are welcome to explore these diverse topics if they pique your interest. Your age, instrument, level, and preferences shape the teaching method I employ. For young learners, I utilize materials like the Hall Leonard Guitar and Ukulele books, Ferdinand Beyer for piano, Fast Track Keyboard Method, and various fakebooks with popular and Disney music. As for teenagers and adults, I offer a wide array of resources, including The Hall Leonard Guitar Method, The Royal Conservatory Series for Classical Guitar, The Berklee Series for Guitar, Dick Grove method for modern harmony, and several other books focusing on improvisation. Additionally, there are excellent European guitar methods like Emilio Pujol, Carcassi, Fernando Sor, and more.

Name: Enrique (Full name will be provided upon registration)

Age: 50's

Gender: male

I studied classical guitar with guitarist Guillermo Flores Méndez, classical piano and electric guitar with private tutors, a technical career on modern guitar, a Masters Degree at Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos under the supervision of Mexican composer Manuel Rocha Iturbide , and some other courses on composition, performance, and jazz improvisation with renowned musicians as Dr. Julio Estrada, Dr. Mario Mary, Soprano Frances Lynch, and Roberto Aymes.

I received the highest distinction on my master's degree for my research project about Genetic Algorithms applied to music composition and its aesthetic implications. Music creative process and science-art integration. In the past, I participated in academic international seminars as a lecturer on topics related to education, music, art, and science. Between them: ● The Second Colloquium of Complex Thought, Mexico, 2009 ● The Third International Congress of Educational Innovation, Mexico, 2008 ● "Music, Science, and Consciousness" lecturer. Mexico, 2006-2007 ● The First International Colloquium of Art and Education, Mexico, 2005 ● The First Colloquium of Arts and Humanities, 2004. As a performer, I have played in cultural forums across Mexico, Palermo (Italy), and Canada such as the LatinSurrey Festival, Make Music Edmonton, AstralHarvest Festival, Polish Festival, and other local venues in Vancouver.

I've been involved in education for 20 years mainly as a music teacher but also as a yoga-meditation teacher and workshop facilitator. My perspective on education has evolved over time. My experience in meditation, yoga, and body psychotherapy allows me to unveil some mental and emotional aspects of my student's lives in the learning process. Education, in my perspective now, is a way to cultivate life skills, emotional intelligence, mental habits that help people to improve their lives, to be better human beings, more aware, and happy. In this sense, Education is also a therapeutic process, a self-knowledge path that can be implemented on lessons, workshops, and more traditional therapeutic scopes.

Rates and Studio Policies
Registration Fee: $25.00 (One-time lifetime registration fee may be used by all family members)

Rates for instruction:
30 minute private lesson: $39.00
45 minute private lesson: $49.00
60 minute private lesson: $59.00

Travel charge: additional $15.00 per visit (for lessons in a client's home as opposed to my studio)

1. Cancellation Policy
Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.

2. Cessation (quitting) Policy
A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.

3. Illness Policy
Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.

BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.

No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.

4. Rescheduling Policy
Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy

Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.

It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.

5. Evaluation Period
There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).
