Teaching Philosophy

I know that each student learns a little differently from other students and that not all of them understand only one way. I bring all the senses to learning and ensure that each and every student completely understands what they are learning and are able to demonstrate these skills themselves. This not only makes them good players but gives them valuable tools to learn in life as well. Sharing my love of music to students motivates them and prepares them for anything in life.

Musical Education

I have a BA in Fine Arts with a specialization in music performance which includes theory, harmony , history and ear training. I taught at the McGill Conservatory for electric bass and violin students. I completed the classical guitar program and double bass program at McGill University. I have been playing professionally for many years for people like Celine Dion, Jean Chretien, Brian Mulroney to name only a few. I performed on a live recording of Shostakovitch's piano concerto at CBC Radio Hall. Being a professional teacher and performer for many years, I have extensive experience in working and collaborating with students and colleagues. Sharing my love of music with students not only makes them good players but prepares them for anything in their future. My objective is to use my experience, knowledge, and work ethics to provide consistent results and become an invaluable asset to any organization.

Special Skills and Trainings

My father was an excellent violin player and teacher. Every one of his students stood out as far as playing and learning was concerned and went above and beyond to ensure each student was happy with themselves and their performances. I have instilled the same qualities in myself that I learned from my father. I have performed for Brian Mulroney, Jean Chretien, Celine Dion and recorded a live record with the Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovitch, among many other work related projects.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
