Teaching Philosophy

I believe music is part of all of us, it is something that enriches the human soul and gives us joy. I am all about teaching what students want to learn, and then bringing the fundamentals and basics to strengthen technique. Want to learn the minecraft song? Sure, after that, lets talk about triads and pentatonic scales. This brings engagement and joy first, while strengthening the students understanding of music and preparing them for more complex pieces.

Musical Education

I have attended the following schools earning the following degrees. Kwantlen Polytechnic University- Bachelors of Music Simon Fraser University- Bachelors of Education

Special Skills and Trainings

I have been a Woodwind clinician in Surrey, as well as a jazz pianist for the group Lowkey for over 5 years. I have played for comedians like Todd Glass in Vancouver for the Just for Laughs Festival, and many weddings and events in the Fraser Valley. I have a lot of jazz performance experience which I bring to my students. I also am a certified music teacher for the Surrey School District. I have taught grades K to grade 12 in various musical endeavors for over 7 years. I also have my own Youtube channel and am proficient with Ableton, Cubase and Logic Software for recording and producing music digitally. All of these things help me bring a wide variety of knowledge to a new music learner, and help me tailor their education to what interests them.

Our Promise to You

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.

Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.

When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.

Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:

Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice

Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
