About Bahar
Bahar is a dedicated piano teacher offering lessons in English and Farsi. With a background in classical and jazz piano, a Bachelor of Education, and experience teaching in Montessori schools, she brings a well-rounded approach to music education. She also specializes in ear training and has expertise in sound design and composition. Teaching Philosophy
I am a certified teacher in British Columbia and have extensive experience teaching in various classrooms and also smaller groups and privately. I thrive on helping my students grow and work toward their goals. My teaching philosophy is centred around recognizing the unique abilities and interests of each student and designing personalized lessons based on students' goals and aspirations. As a trained Montessori teacher, I make sure that my students (of any age) are actively involved in their own learning journey. My lessons begin with a discussion around interests and goals and I utilize a variety of different teaching methods to actively engage diverse learners.
Musical Education
I have studied both classical piano and solfege from the age of seven until the age of 22. My teachers were trained under the rigorous French system and passed down their methods onto me. I have studied with highly regarded composers in Canada and have also studied jazz piano with a professor at The New School of music in New York. I have a bachelor of education and have taught music and other topics at elementary Montessori schools across the lower mainland. I currently play in a progressive rock band and help run various music community events in Vancouver, BC.
Special Skills and Trainings
In addition to teaching music and playing in bands, I work in sound design and composition for theatre, video games and animation. I am also an electronic music producer and work with a variety of different synthesizers and electronic instruments and produce ambient music.

Associate Teacher Lesson Rates:
Bahar is a Beethoven at Home Associate Teacher
- 30 minutes: $39
- 45 minutes: $49
- 60 minutes: $59
Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Our Promise to You
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
