In my vision of music education, I see it as more than just teaching notes, rhythms, and techniques. It's about fostering a lifelong relationship with music that enriches every aspect of a student's life. My philosophy revolves around two key principles: nurturing creativity and cultivating personal growth. First and foremost, I believe in nurturing creativity. Music is an expressive art form; every student has a unique voice waiting to be discovered. Whether they're composing their own melodies, improvising over chord changes, or interpreting a piece with their own flair, I encourage my students to explore their creativity freely. By providing a supportive environment and a diverse range of musical experiences, I aim to empower them to find their own artistic identity. Learning an instrument requires discipline, patience, and perseverance – qualities that extend far beyond the practice room. By setting achievable goals, providing constructive feedback, and instilling a growth mindset, I strive to help my students develop as musicians and individuals. Whether they pursue music professionally or simply as a lifelong hobby, I want them to emerge from my classroom with confidence, resilience, and a deep appreciation for the transformative power of music.
I have a Bachelor of Music from the University of Lethbridge, focusing on euphonium performance/pedagogy and music composition. During my studies, I've had the pleasure of writing for both local and international musicians, including chamber ensembles, community bands and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra.
- Selected as the euphonium player for the 2020 Denis Wick Canadian Wind Orchestra. - Placed top 5 in the 2023 Grand Mesa Music Young Composer's Competition in the Grade 3 category.
I have been a composer in residence at my old high school, writing music for the band program, and teaching weekly clinics on the basics of music writing for grades 11 and 12. This form of musical outreach has provided them with a new outlet for expression while honing my classroom teaching and management skills. I also spent a year teaching music theory as part of an after-school program dedicated to giving low-income families a free musical education. Getting to directly witness the cognitive and social benefits of music-making has cemented the importance of music education and I strive to ensure you obtain the same benefits.
Anton is a Beethoven at Home Associate Teacher
Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
