Teaching the vulnerable art of singing requires creating an environment of freedom and playfulness. Throughout my coaching journey, I have worked with music industry professionals, teenagers, women, and men, guiding them to discover their true voice and find the courage to express it fully. For some students, singing can be nerve-wracking, leaving them unsure about themselves and their abilities. However, I firmly believe that everyone can sing, and everyone possesses a unique voice. While technical training is crucial for a healthy and liberated voice, I also emphasize the significance of relaxation and letting go. My approach is comprehensive, ensuring that each student's voice is nurtured in a healthy and free manner. I strive to create a safe space for exploration, encouraging my students to play and find joy in their singing. Over the years, I have also had the privilege of working with singers and musicians who grapple with performance anxiety. I specialize in helping individuals overcome anxiety and fear associated with performing and being seen. Together, we identify and address the critical inner voices that hinder their freedom of expression. Beneath these voices lies their Sacred Voice, eager to be set free. There's nothing more rewarding than helping someone reclaim their voice and shine confidently on stage once again. Witnessing my students thrive in their artistic expression fills my heart with fulfillment and joy.

Name: Anna (Full name will be provided upon registration)

Age: 50's

Gender: female

I attended Grant MacEwan University for Vocal Performance and have been fortunate to learn from many amazing voice teachers throughout my journey. Among them are Sheri Sommerville, Heidi Klassen, Elsie Hepburn, and the Uncovering The Voice School of Singing. Over the years, my musical career has spanned various genres, including musical theatre, jazz, pop, singer-songwriter, classical, and gospel. Recently, my focus has been on studying the Uncovering The Voice School of Singing, particularly the approach pioneered by Valborg Werbeck Svrdstrom. This unique approach integrates the whole body in singing, and I am truly passionate about sharing this method with my students at Beethoven Music. In addition to my extensive voice training, I am also a certified Wellness Coach with a background in IBP Integrative Body Psychotherapy. This holistic approach to singing considers the well-being of the whole human body - mind, body, and spirit. I look forward to combining my diverse training and experiences to offer my students a comprehensive and enriching musical journey that nurtures both their voices and their overall well-being.

I have achieved some incredible milestones in my musical journey. With great joy, I've recorded 4 albums and had the privilege of writing and recording 3 national theme songs, touching hearts through Canadian Breast Cancer, The World Championships in Athletics, and the Children's Health Foundation. Adding to these blessings, a couple of years ago, I was deeply honored to be recognized as "A Legend of the Edmonton Music Scene." This prestigious title acknowledges not only my contributions as a singer but also the impact of my teaching journey. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunities to share my music with the world and to inspire others through my work as both an artist and an educator. Music has truly been a transformative force in my life, and I am eager to continue sharing its magic with those around me.

The most effective way to grow as a singer is through continuous singing and performing. Throughout my extensive career as a singer, I've had the privilege of performing in various countries, including China, Europe, and the US, as well as my home country, Canada. Along the way, I have recorded several albums and received numerous awards for my singing. My years of experience as a singer have uniquely prepared me to guide my students in discovering and nurturing their authentic voices. Becoming a singer entails forging a deep emotional connection not only with the music but with one's entire being. I am continuously fascinated and passionate about exploring various techniques that contribute to freeing and purifying the voice. This includes practices such as meditation, body connection, yoga, understanding the nervous system, and the profound relationship the voice shares with our bodies and emotional nature. For me, authenticity and truthfulness in the voice are of utmost importance. I aim to empower my students to embrace their genuine selves through their singing, allowing their voices to shine as a reflection of their inner truth.

Rates and Studio Policies
Registration Fee: $25.00 (One-time lifetime registration fee may be used by all family members)

Rates for instruction:
30 minute private lesson: $39.00
45 minute private lesson: $49.00
60 minute private lesson: $59.00

Travel charge: additional $15.00 per visit (for lessons in a client's home as opposed to my studio)

1. Cancellation Policy
Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.

2. Cessation (quitting) Policy
A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.

3. Illness Policy
Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.

BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.

No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.

4. Rescheduling Policy
Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy

Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.

It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.

5. Evaluation Period
There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).
