I feel music is a very integral part of any students education , particularly the theory component. Learning music theory aids greatly in other aspects of students education, from mathematics, music theory is closely tied to mathematics with the big difference being there is more that one answer to a question, which then develops the students ability to problem solve and think critically. The History component is and excellent aid the reading and writing of English as well as memorization. A student also must enjoy the subjects or results may not be as desired, over the many years I have been a music theory teacher I have cultivated a style that makes the subjects intesting and fun, which leads to better results.
I studied piano from the age of eight to thirty eight and decided to make teaching music theory my career starting in 2003. I have been teaching all RCM related theory subjects for over 20 years. Over this time I have cultivated a method of teaching that makes music theory interesting and fun in a way that keeps the student engaged, this leads to better results and higher marks in RCM examinations. I am certified by the RCM as an Advanced Theory Specialist and also hold a Specialist Certification in Orchestration for TV and Film from the Berklee ollege of Music (Boston)
I recieved many awards for piano performance as a child in local festivals in British Columbia. I hold an RCM Advanced Theory Teacher Certification as well as a Specialist in Orchestration for TV and Film from The Berklee College of Music (Boston) where I was top of my class and recieved the first scholarship awarded for that course.
