She offers piano and beginner to intermediate music theory lessons, including RCM rudiments. Amy teaches in Burnaby and is available for online, in-studio, and in-home lessons. She holds an RCM level 10 certificate and is preparing for the ARCT Diploma. Amy's teaching philosophy emphasizes a stress-free, personalized approach to music education.
Music is a great way to express yourself towards others, and it is the most effective way to describe yourself as a person without words. I enjoy establishing various lesson plans for each student as everyone learns differently, and I believe it is a great way to express the type of person you are based on the type of learning method you learn from. I also believe learning should feel care free and not undergo a lot of stress. This goes for both kids and adults as music is a type of comfort we tend to grasp towards.
I am currently studying Music for my BA at Simon Fraser University. I have studied and trained classical piano through the RCM curricum for the past 13 years. I have finished my RCM level 10 exam, and I am currently studying for my RCM ARCT Diploma.
- RCM level 10 exam - RCM basic / intermediate harmony - RCM basic - advanced history - Steinway piano competition Merit Award (2020)
I have spent many years undergoing the type of training I needed with my piano teacher with over 40 years of experience. I have also taught in person and online for the past year as students tend to get busy during the school year. I have also performed and collaborated with other artists at SFU. Because of this, I also had a chance to work on my composing skills, and this has helped me gain experience as a teacher and composer.

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
