I firmly believe in the transformative power of music, as it has the ability to shape our thoughts and broaden our worldview. Music is not only an art form but also a reflection of history, and I strive to incorporate both aspects into every lesson. While making music lessons enjoyable and fun for the student is essential, I also encourage them to explore and learn on their own, fostering their creativity and passion for music. Understanding the theory behind music is crucial, much like learning a language. Delving into the basics lays a strong foundation for the student, enabling them to extend their knowledge to other instruments and genres. I aim to make music lessons interactive, educational, and entertaining, ensuring that the learning experience is enjoyable for the student. Ultimately, music is about connecting with emotions, and the most potent emotion in art is joy. I want my students to experience the joy of music, appreciating the emotional depth it brings to their lives and allowing them to express themselves through this timeless and universal language.

Name: Amilia (Full name will be provided upon registration)

Age: 21

Gender: female

I have successfully completed all 10 grades of violin with the Royal Conservatory of Music, studying under a highly skilled teacher from the Mount Royal Conservatory in Calgary, AB. Throughout my journey, I immersed myself in various genres, including classical, baroque, romantic, and contemporary music. My teacher, trained in multiple methods at the European Conservatory in Switzerland, instilled in me the value of maintaining high performance standards and disciplined practice to foster growth. In addition to my classical training with my Swiss teacher, I also had the opportunity to be part of ensembles, performing with both the Chamber and Conservatory Orchestras at Mount Royal University. An unforgettable experience came when I joined the nationally acclaimed Calgary Youth Orchestra, led by a Juilliard graduate. These ensemble experiences further enriched my musical understanding and collaboration skills, contributing to my growth as a violinist and musician.

RCM Grade 9 First Class Honours certification (2018) Alberta Registered Music Teacher's Association (ARMTA) Scholarship (2017) RCM Gold medal, grade 8 violin (2016) ARMTA Medal (2016) RCM Gr. 8 First Class Honours Certificate (2015) Honourable Mention, International Protege Competition, Carnegie Hall (2014) RCM Gr. 6 First Class Honours Certificate (2014)

In my family, being a musician is a cherished honor, and I take immense pleasure in imparting the craft I've dedicated my life to learning to new students. Music teaching runs in my blood, as both my mother and grandmother were music educators who instilled in me the profound value of both learning and teaching music. Attending lessons with my grandmother taught me the virtues of patience, perseverance, and dedication, which I now consider to be the defining qualities of a good teacher. Having the legacy of two generations of music teachers constantly inspiring me has motivated me to always strive to give my best to my students and to recognize the transformative power of education. This rich family heritage has not only shaped me as a teacher but also as a performer. I believe that sharing this heritage with my students fosters a deeper appreciation and love for music, instilling in them the same passion that has guided me throughout my musical journey.

Rates and Studio Policies
Registration Fee: $25.00 (One-time lifetime registration fee may be used by all family members)

Rates for instruction:
30 minute private lesson: $39.00
45 minute private lesson: $49.00
60 minute private lesson: $59.00

Travel charge: additional $15.00 per visit (for lessons in a client's home as opposed to my studio)

1. Cancellation Policy
Lessons not cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice are billable to the client and payable to the teacher. This does not of course apply to travel fees unless the notice is effectively given at the door and the teacher has travelled to the location.

2. Cessation (quitting) Policy
A client must provide a 2 lesson notice period to stop lessons. So a weekly student needs to give 2 weeks of notice, a biweekly student works out to 3 weeks notice and a twice weekly student works out to a week of notice.

3. Illness Policy
Lessons cancelled due to illness or extraordinary circumstances with less than 24 hours notice remain billable to the client and payable to the teacher.

BAH teachers are encouraged to offer a make-up lesson at a future date in the interest of client relations and general goodwill. This only makes sense as teaching a student with the flu for example, will ruin the rest of your week's employment.

No more than 2 lessons may be made up due to illness within a 60 day period.

4. Rescheduling Policy
Any lesson can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours notice.

Summer Vacation and Extended Absence Policy

Clients may schedule longer absences for trips etc. 24 hours notice is required.

It is normal and typical for students and about 20% of our teachers to schedule a break in the summer. We do not enforce a notice period (see cessation of lessons) at the end of a long summer break.

5. Evaluation Period
There are no free trial lessons with Beethoven at Home but we do offer a 2 lesson evaluation period where it is easy to try out a teacher. There are no free lessons during the evaluation period and clients may choose to discontinue the lessons at any time by providing the required 24 hours notice. After the student's 3rd lesson the required 2 lesson notice period will apply (see cessation of lessons above).

Online lessons

Amilia can provide online instruction. While other platforms are possible BAH strongly recommends the use of the Zoom video conferencing platform as it is optimized for music lessons and audio quality.
