Aiden offers Cello and Piano lessons with a focus on Classical style. He holds a Bachelor's from McGill, a Master's, and a Graduate Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory, and is a substitute cellist for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Aiden teaches in his Edmonton studio and online. He follows the "Every Student Can" philosophy.
"Every Student Can", to paraphrase Dr. Suzuki. I believe that every student has within them the ability to learn, play, and enjoy music making. When looking at a piece of music, I will help students find the elements, both expressive and theoretical, that will help the music come alive. I encourage my students to ask lots of questions, and enjoy the challenges that come with learning an instrument.
I am a former cellist of Symphony Nova Scotia, and I am a current substitute cellist for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Calgary Philharmonic. I have a bachelors in cello performance with a minor in music theory from McGill University, and both a masters degree and a graduate diploma from the Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University. My primary instrument is cello, however I started my musical journey with the piano at age 6, and continued lessons for 10 years. My primary teachers in university were Matt Haimovitz (McGill) and Alan Stepansky (Peabody). I have learned from many other notable cellists including: Astrid Schween, Brian Manker, Joe Johnson, Johannes Moser, Peter Wiley, and Steven Doane.
Boris Brott Award - National Academy Orchestra, Olga Owens Award - Peabody Conservatory, NAC Bursary Competition 2nd prize (2021) - Crabtree Foundation Award ($5,000), Alice & Leary Taylor Award in Performance - Peabody Conservatory, Artistic Excellence Award - Peabody Conservatory ($27,000), Schulich Scholarship - McGill University ($20,000)
During my years as a cellist of Symphony Nova Scotia, I was also able to become the cello coach for the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra. I have been a cellist in the National Youth Orchestra four times. Others summer programs that I have attended include the National Arts Centre Mentorship Program, the International Cello Institute, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, the Orford International Music Festival, and the National Academy Orchestra of Canada. I have also taken teacher training courses from the Suzuki Institute, and a cello pedagogy course during my graduate studies at Peabody.

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.
One-Time Family Registration: $25. This covers your entire family for life - once you're in, everyone can take lessons!
Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
