Music expresses emotion when words cannot. Music listening should be understood within its cultural context, as rhythms and sounds surround us in everyday life. The process of gathering sounds and shaping them into a musical work of art is evident across film, television, and video games. Music fosters the development of a wide range of skills, including language, counting, movement, singing, dramatization, and social interaction. I am committed to supporting every learner fully and helping them realize their potential, whether that is achieved through learning an instrument or through a deeper appreciation of music. A balance between the acquisition of technical skills and the enjoyment of music is essential. My goal is to ensure that students not only achieve musical growth but also experience personal fulfillment and joy through their musical journey.
I hold a Master of Music Education from the University of British Columbia, where I currently teach K–12 music. I also earned a Bachelor of Education from UBC, a Bachelor of Music from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and a Performing Arts Diploma from Douglas College, where I studied guitar under Michael Strutt. My musical journey began with piano lessons at age six, followed by guitar studies at age twelve. Since then, I have performed on both guitar and piano in church, live rock bands, and ensembles, earning recognition in several competitions. Alongside my teaching and performance experience, I work as an audio engineer in both the entertainment industry and church settings, bringing a well-rounded perspective to music-making and education.
A Cold City Night Band
I began piano studies at the age of six and shifted my focus to guitar at twelve, drawn to its expressive acoustic sound. Learning from a variety of teachers broadened my technique and deepened my musicianship. My experience includes live performance in church ensembles and bands, complemented by formal studies in music and music education. These experiences continue to shape both my artistry and my teaching practice. As an educator, I apply Orff and Kodály methodologies, together with listening and audiation strategies, to foster technical skill, creativity, and a lasting enjoyment of music in my students.

Home visit fee: $15 minimum fee. Teachers may negotiate a higher travel fee if the travel distance is longer than they are comfortable with. Most arrangements use the minimum fee.

Getting Started Together
We don't offer free trials, but we do something better - a relaxed 2-lesson getting-to-know-you period. You can pause anytime with just 24 hours notice. After your third lesson, we ask for a friendly 2-lesson heads up if you need to stop.
Life Happens - We Get It
Give us 24 hours notice for any cancellation or reschedule and you'll receive full credit. Planning a family vacation or summer break? Perfect - just let us know a day ahead and we'll pause your lessons.
When You're Under the Weather
If illness strikes with short notice (less than 24 hours), you'll still be charged since your teacher has reserved that time. However, most teachers are happy to offer makeup lessons when possible - they have the final say, especially if last-minute cancellations become a pattern.
Stopping Lessons
Need to take a break? We just ask for a 2-lesson notice:
Weekly lessons = 2 weeks notice
Every other week = 3 weeks notice
Twice weekly = 1 week notice
Summer breaks are different - no notice period needed when you return in the fall!
