Beethoven at Home is Canada's leading provider of in-home, in-studio, and online music instruction. Our teachers are located across major Canadian cities and offer lessons at your home, in their studio, or online. Every teacher has passed a police background check and is assessed on experience, education, and attitude. We also monitor all client-teacher relationships to ensure the highest quality experience.

Most students take weekly lessons to ensure consistent progress. Young beginners typically start with 30-minute lessons. Adults or advanced students often benefit from 45- or 60-minute sessions. Clients preparing for recitals, auditions, or exams may opt for multiple lessons per week.

Our lesson rates depend on the teacher's tier and the lesson duration:
Associate / Associate Plus+: 30 min $39.00, 45 min $49.00, 60 min $59.00
Principal / Principal Plus+: 30 min $46.00, 45 min $58.00, 60 min $70.00
Elite: 30 min $59.00, 45 min $74.00, 60 min $89.00

A minimum travel fee of $15.00 per visit applies for in-home lessons. Note: families booking multiple children with the same teacher on the same day pay only one travel fee per visit.

Beethoven at Home offers three teacher tiers.

The tiers offer a way for clients to ensure they are getting fair pricing relative to experience, education and demand.
Associate: Our standard, reliable option.
Principal: More experienced teachers with proven success and strong credentials.
Elite: Our most experienced, highest-qualified teachers.

Each tier has different rates and expectations. You choose based on the level of experience you're looking for. ALL teachers are qualified and can do a great job.
Important: If you're an existing client, your rate stays the same unless you choose to switch to a different teacher or tier. New tier pricing only applies to new bookings.

We don't offer percentage discounts, but we do offer built-in value for families:
Only one travel fee per teacher per visit (for in-home lessons).

Mini-lesson options for younger siblings (with an older sibling already enrolled):

15 min - $24.00
20 min - $29.00
25 min - $34.00

These short sessions can ease young children into structured music learning without overloading them.

No. Our lessons are one-on-one. While some siblings may begin lessons together (e.g. learning how to hold the instrument), this is only done at the outset. The intent is always individual instruction.
Couples or parent-child lessons: These are billed as two individual 30-minute sessions (not one combined hour) even if taught consecutively.

Yes. Once you've registered and provided payment information, you'll receive your teacher's contact details. You'll have a chance to connect with them before your first lesson, and if the fit doesn't feel right, we'll help you find another option. Your card is never charged until the booking is confirmed and you are only charged for lessons that are booked. Please note that cancelling a booked lesson with less than 24 hours notice will result in the lesson still being charged.

No, but we do offer a 2-Lesson Evaluation Period. You can try out a teacher and discontinue at any point during this period with 24 hours' notice. After the third lesson, the standard 2-lesson withdrawal notice applies. Please note lessons in the evaluation period are not free.

Lessons cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice are billed in full. If a teacher travels to your home and the cancellation happens at the door, the travel fee also applies.

You can stop lessons anytime after providing a 2-lesson notice following your third lesson.
Weekly students: 2 weeks' notice

Biweekly students: 3 weeks' notice

Twice-weekly students: 1 week's notice

Lessons cancelled for illness with less than 24 hours' notice are still billable. However, teachers are encouraged to offer make-up lessons within 60 days. The decision rests with the teacher and they are not required to make up a lesson due to illness but many will accommodate this.

Absolutely. If your teacher agrees to a new time or lesson length, our admin team will adjust your billing accordingly.

Yes. A personal instrument is essential for practicing between lessons.

Our administrative headquarters are in Vancouver. We offer lessons across Canada-Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Gatineau, and Montreal - both online and in-person. We also have rural teachers across Canada and can manage online instruction to any location. Often this is a great choice allowing a student to have a higher quality of teacher than might be locally available.

Same as cancellations: we require 24 hours' notice to reschedule a lesson without penalty.

You may pause your lessons with 24 hours' notice. We encourage advance planning for extended absences.

We accept credit card and VOID cheque. Payments are processed monthly in advance for your scheduled lessons.

No. Teachers focus solely on music. All billing is handled centrally through our administration. Clients are billed monthly at the start of the month, minus any reported absences.

We teach students of all ages-from age 4 to retirees in their 70s. It's never too early or too late to begin!

Once your registration is complete, you'll receive the address and phone number of your teacher. For privacy reasons, this is only shared after confirmation.
